Newton, Ia. — He's raced Bristol, Kentucky and Indianapolis.

But USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series driver Shelby Howard put fledgling Iowa Speedway among the best tracks he's turned left on.

"It's one of the nicest places I've been to," said Howard, who won the last two Pro Cup Northern Division races of the season. "I knew it was going to be nice, but it's real nice."

Howard and other Pro Cup drivers tested the 7/8-mile asphalt track this morning and continued testing throughout the afternoon.

The series begins its six-race championship series in Friday's 8 p.m. Soy Biodiesel 250 at Iowa Speedway.

Howard, of Greenwood, Ind., expects a racy surface.

"I think it will definitely be two grooves, easy, right now," Howard said. "It's just going to get better as they put rubber down on it."
